Lamburger with Fresh Tzatziki Sauce
An important staple to have in every kitchen is a really juicy, savory burger. It is always a great go-to recipe for a busy night, or even to impress friends and family at your next gathering or barbecue. This one is special because it is inspired by Mediterranean flavors. Below are two recipes, one for the burger, and one for a delightful and flavorful Tzatziki sauce that will become endlessly useful in your kitchen.
Burger:
1 lb ground lamb 1 lb ground sirloin 1 TBSP EACH of Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Chopped Mint, Chili Flakes, Sesame Seeds Salt and Pepper to Taste 1 Egg (optional)
Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl until very well combined. Portion out into 6 equal patties and heat your grill to high heat. Set aside while you prepare your sauce.
Sauce:
1 Tub of Greek Yogurt (16 oz) 1 Large cucumber, peeled Juice from 1 large lemon 4 Cloves crushed garlic Salt and Pepper to taste
Begin by grating the cucumber on the large side of a box grater. Place the prepared cucumber in a kitchen towel or cheese cloth and squeeze out most of the liquid. Then place all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and combine well. Adjust the taste by adding more of whatever enhances the taste best for you. Some people really enjoy heavy lemon taste, or extra garlic, as an example.
Next, place your prepared Lamb patties on the lot grill for 4-6 minutes per side. Once done, place on top of a fresh bun of your choice and garnish with Spinach leaves, sliced red onion, pepperoncini peppers, kalamata olives, Roma tomatoes, feta cheese and finally, the fresh Tzatziki Sauce! Makes six 1/3 lb burgers.
